Defendant Found with AK 47

Who:   Michael Christopher Lloyd
When:  Thursday, October 6, 2011 @ 9:30 AM
Where: Justice Center Tower
185 Central Avenue, SW
Atlanta, GA 30303
Judge Henry Newkirk

Facts: On April 20, 2011, an APD officer responded to a call for a shooting  at a residence on Greenland Drive in NE Atlanta. The victim said he was in his home when several gun shots came through the back of his house. The victim and his father had taken out a protective order against the accused Michael Lloyd and believed he may have been responsible for the shooting. Other witnesses called 911 and told the police they witnessed the accused coming out of the same wooded area around the time of the shooting. Based on the description of the defendant and his vehicle, the accused was stopped on a traffic stop and was arrested. Michael Lloyd is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony. This is a Standard Track Case.

Friday October 7, 2011 Lloyd’s lawyer requested a stay of arraignment until psychological tests have been administered on the suspect.  No indication as to how long this will take before Lloyd appears before the judge for a full hearing.  Lloyd has a private attorney, as opposed to using a public defender, so this might push the process along a little faster.
